on loop: everybody hurts ~ R.E.M

i haven't been able to blog for quite some time now, been caught up with some issues and basically, i haven't been able to find the time though there have been quite much i would have wanted to blog about. anyway, forget about those. lately, i've been learning to appreciate the olympics in athens and have somewhat developed a liking for it hehe. and last night as i was watching the events, i came upon the men's volleyball finals. it was between spain and brazil. brazil is world number 1 while spain was among the less favored teams that went into the olympics. anyway, to cut through the chase i hab a nyu kras! haha how terribly 12-year old. anyway here's a tiny (and upclose :D) preview of spain's men's beach volleyball player. and they bagged the silver in this year's olympics by the way. and what's even more amazing is that pablo (naks close) was in a coma for three days just a year ago due to a car accident and look where he is now! sigh. and he's only 22 years old hehe (pwede pa ;p). anyway enough of the delay, here he is:

pablo herrera!

what else... what else. i'm in a tight bind right now. money issues. i have to scrap together a lot of money to pay for someone else's debt. argh bad trip. i'm using up money i was supposed to use for myself and finally get a dvd player and a laptop and stuff. hayy. whatta life. money's hard to come by... too bad the world runs on it no matter how much people would like to think it's love and peace that works the wheels of the world. a pretty thought and very pleasant but a bit idealistic. i still believe in love and peace and all of those but i don't think i could live on those alone. duhr. this just had to come by a few days before the third... sorry friends, the treat would have to be a bit delayed. money's tight :) hopefully, things would work out soon.

on another note, i seriously need to cut down on coffee and cigarettes. it would save me a lot of dough and probably spare me a few more months to live or so hehe. also, i should spend more time studying. i need a lifestyle overhaul, actually. time to focus onstudies, health and business matters. just so i could have some sort of direction... not just spazzing around waiting for something significant to hit me in the head. yeah, that's right. life change. easier said than done though :s

Charles Schultz Philosophy

Charles Schultz Philosophy

on loop: Waiting in Vain ~ Bob Marley

was going through some of my old e-mails and came across an interesting few. here's one of them (for lack of anything better to blog about Ü):

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones who care.

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." - Charles Schultz

on loop: If I Ain't Got You ~ Alicia Keys

i planned on blogging today and saying something like, "damn, i'm bored" or "shit, this sucks" or something to that effect but whoa, was i surprised. blogger has a new interface! (for those who haven't noticed, and actually care to know harhar). its template (the dashboard itself) now has features similar to that when creating documents in MS Word. coolness. blogging is evolving. you can now change the font color, the font, the font size, justify/center/left or right align the text. hahaha. weird. cool at the same time (and slightly disorienting [is there even such a word?]). i can finally justify the text on my blog! hehe (a former frustration).
anyway, enough about that. another issue that i've been meaning to blog about was the injury that took larry fonacier out for the season. extremely saddening news and what i found very heart-warming and touching was the reaction of the atenean community to the loss of their main man in uaap basketball. everyone responded with support and an even better cohesiveness and belief in the power of the team. one would even be led to believe that this goes beyond "just basketball", it actually encompasses the famed atenean spirit that seemingly binds ateneans, old and young alike. yesterday, the first round of the uaap men's basketball came to an end, with ateneo leading in rank with zero losses. the game yesterday between admu and feu was intense. dramatic and full of heart. when l.a. tenorio shot a 3-pointer to guarantee the win, he did so with conviction. and when the shot sank in like it wasn't meant to go anywhere else, he pointed to larry fonacier as if saying, together with the admu community that "this one's for you". sigh. beautiful.
what else... what else... hrmm. i went drinking with my dad yesterday. harhar. weird :) but cool all the same. i also got to watch 13 going on 30 in bea's house the other night, with lisa. what a cute film! definitely not shallow and is one of those feel-good movies. highly recommended :) what else... what else...
aha! someone's turning twenty real soon ahehehehe. advanced hafi bardi! o yung mga nagfifeeling dyan na ginigreet ko sila, tama na. di kayo yun hehe. just kidding ;) you've matured so much and learned a whole lot, you just don't see the entirety of how much you've changed for the better :) hope wisdom still does come with age. goodluck! enjoy your day and the many more to come after that ;p
